Details
- NVIDIA and Microsoft announced RTX Spark PCs and previewed DGX Station for Windows at an October 2026 Windows and Surface event in San Francisco.
- Jensen Huang and Satya Nadella presented the collaboration, alongside Microsoft’s Windows and Devices team and hardware partners including Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, MSI and Gigabyte.
- RTX Spark combines a Blackwell RTX GPU, Grace CPU and up to 128GB of unified memory, delivering up to one petaflop of FP4 AI performance for local model inference, development, content creation and gaming. RTX Spark laptop preorders opened October 7, with availability beginning October 16; compact desktops are planned for November.
- Microsoft also made Microsoft Execution Containers generally available, providing operating-system-level isolation, policy controls and persistent background execution for Windows agents. DGX Station for Windows extends the same local-first approach to enterprise workloads using a GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Desktop Superchip.
- DGX Station for Windows is specified with 748GB of coherent memory and up to 20 petaflops of FP4 performance, supporting locally run models at up to trillion-parameter scale while retaining access to Linux toolchains through Windows Subsystem for Linux.
Impact
The announcements position Windows PCs as local execution environments for AI agents, potentially reducing cloud dependence for privacy-sensitive workflows and giving developers a common CUDA-based path from laptops to enterprise systems. Over the next 12–24 months, adoption will depend on pricing, software compatibility, thermal and power constraints, and whether Microsoft’s security controls become a standard deployment layer for desktop agents.
