Details
- Proximie, working with AWS, Deloitte and eight NHS hospitals, has launched a year-long evaluation of its Intelligence Suite across 104 operating theatres, endoscopy suites and catheterisation laboratories in the UK NHS.
- The programme is designed to capture and anonymise theatre data automatically, then use AI to surface real-time operational insights that help teams identify bottlenecks and improve flow without disrupting clinical staff.
- It will be deployed across eight NHS sites and is expected to support more than 20,000 procedures a year, with the goal of reducing delays between operations and increasing capacity using existing theatres and staff.
- The announcement builds on earlier Proximie deployments, including reported gains at NHS trusts such as University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire and Barking, Havering and Redbridge, where the company says its tools improved case throughput and turnover time.
- Proximie says the platform is already available in about 20% of NHS hospitals, and the company’s recent AWS Pioneer designation and NVIDIA collaboration underline its push to scale connected, data-driven operating rooms.
Impact
This is a direct bet on surgical AI as a capacity lever for health systems under pressure, rather than a replacement for clinical labor or new capital builds. If the evaluation produces reproducible gains, it could accelerate NHS adoption of ambient operating-room analytics and shape how hospitals allocate funding toward workflow software over the next 12–24 months.
